I had to ask this guy out on a 3rd date--is he interested?

He asked me out on our previous two dates. We went out two weekends in a row. We had a great time each date, but he didn't seem even as enthused after our second date as he was after our first. He said he is broke, so he can't party (we drank both times on our dates, but NO, he didn't try anything) and he said he is doing nothing this weekend because this week has been bad, and I don't believe either would stop him from going out w/me on a 3rd date if he really liked me. I even offered via text to pay for our next date, but he didn't say anything, so I mentioned going out next Saturday, and he said he'll think of something we can do together. At least he did say that. He initiates texts to me every day still and he is very friendly. We live two hours away from each other so we've met midway. Is he worth going out with? Is he interested? Thanks.
