Can anyone clarify the governing structure of the Paris Commune of 1871?
I've found so many books that use the same Marx quotation to describe it, as though the quotation doesn't just confuse the subject more, or that say it really didn't have a government/it was anarchy in the street/etc. I know that it had its 92 member Communal Council and that later on in its 72 day lifespan it had a Committee of Public Safety. However, what were the huge connecting institutions between these legislative and executive bodies and the Communards like, what were they called and did they show signs of being effective? If anyone can answer this, it would be much appreciated.
