Stuck on finding the right type of paint i need for my guitar....help!?

stripped my original paint from my guitar because i hated the varnish shinny finnish on it! I saw my friends guitar the other day and really wanted to know what paint it was, it wasnt shinny but a smooth paint...felt more like plastic to be fair but deffinatly know it is a paint.
