Why is it so hard to get a job in the north east?

OK, so i am 16 and i go to a sixth form collage in darlington, and to get the bus every week day it costs �5 (althought it wouldnt be if my parents didnt keep spending the money from the council for travel costs), i have a fair amount of GCSE's althought i havent had any previous experience with work other that work experience. ive handed in CV's at most of the shops in my local town (Bishop Auckland) and in darlington, but ive only had word back from asda who of course said no. so now my dad is going nuts cos collage is costing him so now he is trying to ruin my life by "subtly" persuadeing me to leave collage and take an apprentership which to be honest i would rather jump in a pool of lava then take an aprentership, so now he is saying if i dont get a job i can "**** off", he says we have no money and then goes and buys a car with my bus money. what should i do?
